When you are under-insured your claim is reduced in proportion to the level of under insurance. This is called the “Condition of Average”. It applies all over the world and contrary to popular belief, Jamaica has not been selected for special treatment.

If you insure twice you cannot claim back more than you have actually lost. This principle is a legal one and is called “Indemnity”.

“Indemnity” above does not apply to life and personal accident insurances. The Law says that you cannot put a finite value on life and limb.

Re-value your car every year because premiums for comprehensive cover are based on value insured.
